How to Dilute Essential Oils

When diluting the essential oils decide if you want to use an organic carrier oil such as jojoba or coconut, an organic body lotion or cream, do not use water. There are three percentages to use during this process either 1%, 2% or 3%.

1% Dilution

1 oz (30 ml) add 5 - 6 drops of oil

2 oz (60 ml) add 10 - 12 drops of oil

1% dilution is used for children under the age of 12, seniors over 65, pregnant women. Also those dealing with a long term health issue and those with immune health issues. For those who are sensitive to fragrances or other odors this is a good place to start. Recommend for those who are new to using essential oils.

2% Dilution

1 oz (30 ml) - add 10 - 12 drops of oil

2 oz (60 ml) - add 20 -24 drops of oil

2% dilution is for use in homemade skin care products, never use in products that are meant to be used around the eyes.

3% Dilution

1oz (30 ml) - add 15 - 18 drops of oil

2 oz (60 ml) - add 30 - 36 drops of oil

3% dilution is used when creating a custom blend to aid with a specific health issue.
